For some of us faith is not about belief, but rather about distance and space. |
-Distance and Space- by Keaton Foster Upon the hill Wilderness still Motionless the sky Wild are her eyes She sees what I don’t What I refuse Heaven above God of the sun Champion of the sky A kingdom to come Where many will go Those disposed Vacant of life As so defined Absent of all strife What a surprise it shall be They won’t know their time Nor that it has transpired Every soul to be removed Ripped from our bones Set aloft Freedom from every idea And rationale fear She sees all of it as true She has convinced herself And such conviction Stands no chance of change Distance and space For her and those like her Earth is the beginning Life is our inception Death leads to what’s next Transcendence beyond The conflictions we have lived Unlike her and those in tow I fight to see anything true Anything that I can believe All I see is a caustic blackness Mired by but a few dots of light Pin pricks in a shroud dark Covering up what’s behind Easily to me she confesses Not that I’m asking Or pressuring her in any way God is right there So high above My one savior The true redeemer My master of this life And the would be confessor Of my ultimate death He won’t abandoned me here Never have I been lost The lamb and the flock Are connected beyond Distance and space Continually I watch along A novice at any idea of faith I cannot believe as she does And I’m quite sure I never will What she sees I am blind to Such persuasions are strong Her faith is infallible The blackness I call my own Is the paradise she dreams Upon the hill Wilderness still Motionless the sky Wild are her eyes She sees what I don’t What I refuse For her What’s so close Is for a man like me Impossibly far away… Distance and Space Written by Keaton Foster Copyright © 2014. |
