This is my favorite time of day. The Golden hour--those sixty minutes before the sun sets each evening. The rays of the sun are slanted just right to bring out the golden hues in every fiber of creation. Have you seen it? The earth is glowing in jewel tones.
For just a moment, there is a flash of Eden--a glimpse of the world as it was always meant to be.
I stand in the tall grass as soft clover carpets the field beneath. I close my eyes. Red gold fills up and spills over in the darkness. All shadows fade here. I feel the sun kiss my eyelashes. I smile and raise my hands, absorbing liquid sun.
I can almost hear it singing.
The hour ends. In one excellent, swift finale it fades. Then twilight. The magic is over, but I am still smiling because I know that I--for the breadth of a moment--have seen Eternity.
