A poem about the struggles of a teenage girl finding who she really is |
A girl who sought love Compassion and attention A girl who craved strength Admiration and perfection A girl too shy, too weak To admit these desires A girl too sensitive To withstand the fire Built by the ones With the fame and the power Built by the ones Who everyday would devour Her courage, her strength Her own peace of mind Her power and her wit Destroying this girl so kind "It's all my fault" She would tell herself She didn't think she was worth Her own self-wealth She was beaten and bruised Her face wet with tears And the pain just grew worse Over the growing years But deep in her heart She knew she was good She knew she was pure And she'd prove it, she would She rose from the ashes From the dying flame And rose above those With the power and fame The bruises healed And the tears slowly dried No scars remained For her spirit couldn't die And though she thought Her integrity had been stolen She came to realize She was never truly broken She found her strength Her courage and the power To stand above The ones who devoured Her self-esteem, her wit Her kindness and strife She finally learned How to live her life |
