A poetic short that puts an unusual twist on the most popular book in the world! P:2 |
Elder Child and companion ran and they hid. They do fear punishment for what they did. The shadow of Elder Had threatened before, To eat from his tree Would bring death and much more. "Where are the two of you?" Crackled a voice. "come out, let me see you," he spoke to the pair. Out they came and he Stared at their clothes He knew what had to be Done, why they know. "you look awfully strange," His voice held a bite. "Why would you arrange These leaves about you?" King Elder did see, As companion now spoke, That they touched his tree, And they felt shame. Child was blamed, Though all were at fault. Child, being shamed, Pointed to Reason. Elder raised his hand Up to the sky As energies ran Into the king then The energy he wound And placed into those Who were gathered 'round Him and his tree. Filled with anger and strife Elder did curse Reason: for his life To crawl and taste dust. King elder, that shadow Cursed Child: for life To feel pain and sorrow And feel exhaustion. Cursed to need escort And to obey Child may not retort But forever be owned. With no less favor, To Companion now, Cursed him hard labor To work for life. The magic did grow Into the three, Into their bones, To be rid of at death. Forever did cease their life in his palace, put in skins of a beast to wear in their exile. In front of his palace The King put a guard To inflict great malice On any who come near. |
