My memories skip across time ... {Form: End Rhyme) A Senior Forum Entry
Skipping Stones

My memories skip across time
like a stone on a placid lake.
Their movements are a pantomime
revealing my life in their wake.

Those days of summer as a child,
running through sprinklers, shouts of glee,
backyard adventures in the wild,
every pond was the open sea.
Though sweet, too soon those days were gone.
With time's tide, I was moved on.

We met when I reached eighteen years.
From seeds of lust our love had grown;
We made our vows, through smiles and tears
we faced the future though unknown.
Though sweet, too soon those days were gone.
With time's tide, I was moved on.

The children came, the years went by,
they grew and left to find their own.
We weathered times both low and high
unaware how the years had flown.
Though sweet, too soon those days were gone.
With time's tide, I was moved on.

There's more behind than lies ahead
and like that stone, someday I'll stop,
but whatever comes, I'll feel no dread
for I've lived life to the last drop.
Though sweet, too soon these days are gone.
With time's tide, I'll be moving on.
