Autumn Interlude

At dusk, the branches frame the sky;
their golden parchments wave goodbye.
The breeze sings with a gentle sigh
a lullaby, a lullaby.

Summer has passed and fall's begun.
The landscape fades in shades of dun
as from the vistas colors run:
tears of the sun, tears of the sun.

The season chimes its final knell
while falling under winter's spell;
a hard white shell is used to quell
a last farewell, a last farewell.

Form: Monotetra ~ The Monotetra   is a poetic form developed by Michael Walker. Each stanza contains four lines in monorhyme. Each line is in tetrameter for a total of eight syllables. What makes the Monotetra so powerful as a poetic form, is that the last line contains two metrical feet, repeated.
