There was a clan who drove in a van
(a mother, a father, kids two.)
Toss in an ice storm and what have you got?
Holiday travel miscue.
They drove away from East Oyster Bay
beneath a cold sky that was blue.
But soon low pressure emerged on the spot,
limiting their point of view.
As they slowed down and looked all around,
the autos were distant and few.
Then they discovered their traction was not--
theirs was an icy milieu.
Lori and Chad (the lass and the lad),
asked mommy what they were to do.
Mommy perceived daddy was overwrought;
both sighed as their panic grew.
Brakes were applied and Hugh Conway cried
as over the ice his van flew.
Beth Conway’s eyes were a little bloodshot--
“Good golly-whomps!” hollered Hugh.
Chad and his sis knew things were amiss
and ear-piercing squeals did accrue.
All of a sudden a noisy onslaught,
fractious the din they did spew.
Then as they slid, both adult and kid
assumed it was their Waterloo.
When on a rail with the van safely caught,
all four Conway's spouted, “Whew!”
