Hope in the Dark

It hadn't always been this way for me. Living in fear of the darkness.. I used to live a simple life. One of freedom and peace. But then the world changed, and as it changed people changed with it. It is the year 3029. In this day and age, the world is now owned by despicable creatures, that like to keep human's as their pets or slaves. There are a few lucky ones that escaped to the free land, just before everything got taken over. I was unfortunately not one of those people. Now here I am. Terrible things happen at night. People go missing and turn up days later either dead or in a house with an owner. My brother was one of those people. We had been separated one night will finding a safe place to camp. And I haven't seen him since. It was tragic when word got to me that there was a new demon to be crowned soon. That meant that people were looking for me, and not me alone. I need to get to the free land and I need to get there soon, Because if they find me, God knows what will happen. I know the way to the free land I just need to plan a way to get there. I never did introduce myself.

I don't remember falling asleep but clearly I must of at some point. I looked at my surroundings, suddenly panicked that I had been taken in the night, but to my relief I was in a clearing in the woods. Well I have got some good news. I have planned a way out of this country and to the free land but it might take some time. Okay well lets get started then shall we, I have along way to go till I get to the free land and there is about a one hundred percent chance that I will not get there alive. Seems like an horrible consequence but oh well, in my opinion it is worth the risk. Sometimes, I lie awake at night and dream of what the free world may be like. I really hope that it is all that I have dreamed of.
I pack up the small amount of things that I had gotten out of my bags and found somewhere to dump all my clothes, in case any demons had gotten a whiff and where trying to pick up my scent. Then it was time for me to get going before something bad happened.

It felt like I had been walking for days, but I knew that it was way less. The sun is setting and I need to walk as fast as possible to get as far as possible before the sun completely sets. There was a snap of a twig not far off from where I was. Oh no! This is not going to end very well for me, I just know it. But then again I am lucky enough to have lasted this long. Whatever this thing was it was getting closer, and it wasn't going slow either. I panic and start to climb a tree not far off just as the thing comes out from where he was.
