Three Daughters
Three Daughters

A young man I was, life was free.
each day was unexpected,
the sky was my planner.

My friends went their way,
The sky became gray,
and then I found thee,
so we could fly free.

Life became lonely,
the stork brought a daughter.
A beauty I said, looks just like her Dad.
Tis a love like I never had.

Each day was a charm,
sharing my love was a joy,
but I wanted a boy.

Before long we had another.
Again we had a daughter.
A beauty I said, looks just like her Mom,
I aspired a son, do you suppose we can try for one.

The girls loved to play and sing.
Mom would buy spring dresses,
Dad would buy dollies.

A few years did pass,
The girls did advance.
I wanted a son, can we try for one.

Another daughter arrived,
She looked just like me,
so now we have three.

And these three girls have taught me, to know me.
