Kila's eyes tried to adjust to the early morning light. A stange sound shattered the silence, blood freezing in her veins. Her hands were sweat slicked, making it difficult to hold her .243 rifle. She braced her feet against the metal of the tree stand. Trembling , she raised her rifle, frantically gazing through the scope. There was nothing. She lost the grip on her gun and it tumbled to the ground.
"Now what?" She thought.
Rustling came below her.
"Kila! Forgot your coffee." Her grinning husband held up a thermos. She breathed a sigh of relief. "Thanks!"
