Leaf floats, Along the river, Purposeless, meaningless, And without a sliver. Abandoned and hopeless, For what it was, Wondering why, Without a cause. And afoot, There was a fall, Leaf tugged along, To end it all. Just then an ant, Came upon the leaf, Looking at the fall, With a bit of grief. Near the edge, A wind flew by, Clutching, The leaf began to fly. Recalling the day, And the branch it left, A short feeling of freedom, And an eternity bereft. Gently floating, Down the fall, Caressing the land, Coming to a crawl. Carefully trudging, The ant departs, Again abandoned, In the heart of hearts. The leaf unmoved, And facing down, Wondering, if there is, Another waterfall, Another wind, Another ... |
