In choosing the animal I’d like to be
A shortlist evolved, I was down to just three
A panda, giraffe, or haggard old crow
I couldn’t decide because I didn’t know.
Then Pusscat arrived and sat down by my knees
She licked and she preened before sending her pleas
Was food she was after, she’d just had a drink
‘Come on now, Mum, put me back in the pink'.
I realized at that point, the life of my cat
Was pampered with loving and not only that
Her food was provided, her bed ready made
No wonder that damned cat had moved in and stayed!
So, casting my eyes over old friend Pusscat
I asked if all day I could lie on a mat
And not have to worry ‘bout food or a bed,
Pusscat looked at me, and nodded her head.
My mind is made up it’s a cat’s life I’ll take
With mi'ows and purring while I’m still awake
I dream of a mistress, one easy to please
While Pusscat and I, share a life filled with ease.
