Pelican Dreams

I dream of the pelican
Drifting slowly out to sea
I dream of the pelican turning
It's firm curved head
Back round to look at me.

And the birds fly quietly over
Through the haze of summer breeze
And the warm wind lifts the leaves
Of the river wet lush green trees

And I dream of the pelican
Drifting slowly away from me
Down the Amber waters of the estuary
Into the endless unknown sea.
