Took some knitting with me to turn into rabbits later on tonight. Now it's time to tune that uku and get strumming. Day 59 Fri: does assembling IKEA furniture count as creative? Either way I made two sock snowmen - well one's a snowgirl. Belle, a friend's dog, has run off with the snowman's hat. Practiced on the uke for 30 mins - learnt the first four chords C, G7, A minor and F. Wonder what i'll remember tomorrow. Must watch more you tube vids. Day 58 Have been pondering where to go next with my creativity pledge. Two possible roads (asides from writing that is). One is to actually open the brown cardboard parcel that has my unused ukulele in and start strumming and the other is to focus on making animals to sell for christmas to raise funds for our sanctuary. Would like to do both and write and all the other things i want to do. So going to do 1 hour a day focused on 30 mins on uku and 30 mins on animal crafts as a minimum. Today I wrote a tweet me a story and got the Uke out and tuned it up. Progress - it arrived 6 weeks ago!! Day 57 Weds Early morning start and Camp NaNo finished. Day 42 Tues Finally got started on Camp NaNo and wrote just over 2k words - mainly the setting and the character descriptions Day 41 Mon Made pom pom tails for the bunnies Day 40 Sun Went to the knit and sew'cial at the Community Arts centre. Met some great people who were really helpful with idea - especially the long skirt i've plans for. Knitted two squares and turned them into bunnies Day 39 Sat Worked on the garden again. Need some help with manual work but otherwise it's really coming together. I'm loving the design. Need to get a few more bits of garden furniture and perhaps a stand or two for the plants but have to wait till there's room in the car Day 38 Fri Worked hard on the blurb for hook to book - think I've sorted it. Day 37 Thurs looked at patterns for a full length skirt. Need to get some cheap fabric that doesn't need ironing and some wall paper liner to draw out my finished design Day 36 Wrote another short poem today. Not adding it to my port as only one space left. Need to get upgraded. Day 35 Hexagons. wow this is beginning to work. Definitely feeling more in control of the process Day 34 More squar.es - getting faster at this and coming up with some interesting ideas. I want to get a massive hook and rip up old duvet covers to make rag rugs Day 33 A third of the way through! Tired out and in serious pain most of last night so rested up today. Continued designing squares. Don't think they'll all work together :) but could get a couple of rugs from the different styles. Need to vary texture a bit more methinks. Day 32 A very busy day running a stall on Pearson Park. Just enough time to crochet some pretty squares for my blanket Day 31 Made a little stuffed mouse (take 2) that turned into a little stuffed mouse! but the crochet was too loose and you can see all the stuffing - it's ok but not quite as i expected Day 29 Made a little stuffed mouse. Well it was supposed to be little but turned into a rat - wrong yarn and wrong crochet hook. NVM. Day 28 Masses of work on the garden. All the bought plants are potted, need to do a bit more with seedlings and give it a clear up and then the small front garden and the sitting area of the large garden are finished! Well finished is a relative term i'll keep picking away at things. I fancy some solar lights. Dog area needs tidying next but back aches so a few days rest.Loving the new designs. Dogs enjoying th paddling pool. Day 27 Went to new monthly craft group and made granny squares - not so exciting but improved my technique no end and learned a new stich. Also persuaded them to include animals in their craft making ideas to help me. Next month we're working with willow. Day 26 Pets in the Park spent most of the day working on a stall in west park but had plenty of time to continue with sewing projects. Day 25No sleep last night so could run the stall today. Plus side was i spent time working in the garden - think i've got my head around the design now on paper at least. Next step is a big clean up. Day 24 oooh quarter of the way through. Today pretty well finished the main work on the craft room. Been prettying up boxes to store things in. Very busy weekend ahead so don't expect much of me. Fundraising events for the sanctuary both days. Day 24 Started to turn a spare room into a crafting room. Lots of work yet to do with creating decorations and storage stuff. Also need to buy some chairs and then invite some friends over. Could be fun. This is a big project as I want the room to be totally designed for its purpose and a place people feel comfortable working in. Day 23: take 2 Made a few flowers. Day 23: take 1 Today i made the horrible decision to end my beautiful dog's life. She was suffering and there was no possibility of help. Good bye Kiara, I miss you. Nothing creative at all today except tears. Day 22:Worked on a pattern for a stuffed elephant. tomorrow going to create a pinterest page - i've written that here so i don't forget! Day 21: Enlarged my stuffed birds to include an owl. Rather pleased with it. Want to look at button making next. Day 20: Feeling better again today and made a chicken pin cushion.Bit tricky and slow to make and not sure if anyone would buy it but increase skill level Day 19: this is getting tedious! So back to designing bags to sell. Only made one but it's a good one Day 18: Back to poetry for today, wrote the outline of a short poem about waking up and facing the day Day 17: Made a necklace to sell to raise funds Day 16: Designed a 2nd bag Day 15: Collected a few flowers to press and built a ramp for my powerchair so i can get in and out of the garden to charge it. also designed a bag and wrote a few lines of poetry Day 14: decided to enter a competition "it's a wonderful life" so spent an hour putting a short piece together. Want to press some flowers soon. Definitely getting into a routine now. Day 13: Worked on G&D - need to do decide where to stop! Do I bring the parents into it as well or just leave it with G. Might take a break and go back to creative cooking and a Dog's Life tomorrow - who knows :) Day 12: Wrote the outline of a short story called George and his Dragon Day 11: Today I worked more on my next short story called "Lights Out". Major sticking point is I don't know how to punctuate it! Hope to work more on A Dog's Life tomorrow - otherwise I'm going to work on a recipe for seitan. Day 10: Alredy 1/10th of the way through the challenge. Today was filled with dog walking and attempts to sort out a safe place to charge and store my new power chair. But still squeezed in a four line ditty which I hope to turn into something longer. It's called A Dog's Life at the moment. Day 9: A very busy day - just time to write a 100 word short story called hypocrisy
Day 8: Garden design went well. Even managed to rope a friend into helping with some of the heavy lifting. I also started working on my own pattern for a dog bandana. The online ones don't resize well. The big event for the day thought was, total suprise, I won the tweet me a story competition. This challenge is definitely pushing me in different ways. Tomorrow I'm going to try another short poem. Day 7: So the first week is over and i'm going strong a quiet day toay but finished yet another bandana. Changed my mind about the short story and worked on a poem instead. Tomorrow is going to be very busy so i think flower making and garden design. Day 6: Today is bandana day 2. I'm going to try using a different pattern to make Henry a bandana this evening and I've written another little poem today. Tomorrow i must continue my short story and I want to start working on creating a play space for the dogs. Day 5: knee gave out on me totally last night and I had a scary fall in the bathroom. Scary because i was on my own and couldn't get up for a while. Got to do something about that today. After a lot of rest I made a bandana and wrote a poem - no I'm not sharing it here - it's probably pretty awful but I liked it, so it can stay on my laptop and I'll revisit it later and see what I think. In the meantime I've started reading poetry. Need to find a new bandana pattern but otherwise that's it for the day. Day 4: A painful day. My knee did its thing, leaving me a limping, slightly whiny, mess. I finished the tea tie dying - and now have, I'm sure, the only tea tie-dyed sling in England. Hurrah or something. My new scissors arrived so I cut out the bandana but will leave sewing till tomorrow. I also worked on the main garden to my house. That didn't feel creative, more like grunt work for my friends, with me supervising. But it's the start of making a garden that has a dog play area, a human sitting area and a vegetable growing area. I also got some great feedback on my first piece of writing "Deception" - it's so good that people take so much trouble to help each other. Tomorrow is definitely dog bandana day but for now its time to check out my new handbag and drink some wine. Day 3: This creativity business is hard work. Took me 30 mins to find my sewing machine and another 15 to find the iron had hidden itself on the top shelf behind the emergency tins of dog food. Got everything set up and then discovered my scissors are too blunt to cut water, which led to an online shopping session. An hour later I'd ordered pins, sharp scissors, a new handbag, kelp, 2kgs of wheat gluten and a notebook for storing all my writing ideas. Undaunted I moved onto the next project - tie-dying. An old sling (broke my scapula in Nov last year) was volunteered for the task and I got it all tied up ready to plunge into a bath of warm tea only to discover I'd run out of ordinary teabags and couldn't decide if it was an appropriate use for Earl Grey. Ho hum. On the other hand I did make some stakes for all my new seed trays and am settling down to making some flowers with my knitting loom. Still no dog bandanas and no tie dyeing achieved but all set up for tomorrow. Lesson for today - get organised. Day 2: Came to the very obvious realisation that I can either create an entire, tiny project every day or attempt to create a big one and do it badly (see Day 1) or break the big one into stages. Silly me. So today I did the complete the first stage of by dog bandana making project. The pattern is printed, the sizes are established and I've sent out pleas on our facebook page for material. The bandanas will be sold on ebay and the proceeds go to our animal sanctuary. Tomorrow will depend on finding material but I'll definitely get the sewing machine dusted off and try to remember how to use it. I'm also thinking of trying tie dying with tea to see how that works out. If anyone knows how to link out to a webpage I can show you our website. Day 1: I entered a 100 word story competition
