Upon thy spine
Troublesome
This time
I won’t survive
The end result
Of who I am
What I’ve done
Has come clear
To the sea
To the sky
Vermin
Buzz me by
Waiting
Upon demise
Knowing
Something
That I didn’t
Until now
They’ll eat me
Consumable
Is all flesh
Digestible
Everything else
Is at best
I’ll be scattered
Separate matter
Never again
Identifiable
As part
Of who I am
A man of sin
Broken
Again
A man of needs
Met
Via grief
Insane
At times
Inspired
At all others
I see darkness
Just as I see light
There are shades
On many
In the middle
Between living
And dying
There is beauty
But just as so
There is ugly
To the sea
To the sky
Spread
Far and wide
Meat and flesh
Bone broken
Raised to Heaven
Then dropped
Further shattered
To get at the marrow
What’s inside
Is most delicious
Parts of me
These words
I ask you to feast
There will be
Without question
Nothing left
Except for them
Take what you wish
Forget my intent
See beyond the lines
Make up your own
Reason and rhyme
To the sea
To the sky
Everything spreads
Far and wide…
