An unexpected visitor sends Michael's heart racing. |
I normally only write in my journal on Mondays, but today, however, I absolutely had to make an exception. I was minding my own business, working on the ledger when she walked in. I almost knocked over my inkwell! It was her pure , angelic face that caught my eye. Only after, did I notice her simple cotton dress and worn shoes. I can't even remember what she asked me really. I think my mouth must have dropped open when I heard that cute cockney accent. Normally it would be like chalk on a blackboard, but not coming from her. "Is Mister Caversham in? I've come into a large lot 'o money, ya see and need someone to help figa' out what to do wif' it" she explained. It took me a few minutes to register that she meant Mister Caversham Senior; my father. He was the owner of this accounting firm, as he inherited it from his father before him. I was so nervous, I could barely speak. I turned back to the desk and grabbed a business card, hoping with all my might that my hand would not start shaking. I was able to control my nerves. She took the card. "Thank you and g'day sir," she put out her fingerless glove for me to kiss. I took her small, gentle hand in mine and kissed it softly. As I did I inhaled the natural perfume of her skin. It was special, because it was hers. Long after she was gone my heart was still thumping. I am eagerly and hopefully awaiting her return! Next journal entry of Michael Caversham: A month had passed, but there was not a day I did not think of her: her eyes, her beautiful shy smile, her delicate fingertips. Logically it made no sense. We were from such different stations in life, but in my heart it felt so right. I heard the dinging of the bell that sounded when someone entered. As I had done for the last month, I felt a nervous feeling of anticipation; maybe it's her. This time, I was right. |
