All these words, this nonsense, this diatribe, all of it will live on long after I am gone |
-The Tale They’ll Tell- by Keaton Foster Oh’ The hell The tale They’ll tell The guts They’ll spill What a mess What a mistake A tragedy made Within a legacy laid They’ll come To stand upon My solemn grave Making their peace By trampling around They’ll desecrate The heaviest of stone That spells out my role They’ll knock it down Erasing my name Adding to such shame Any flowers around Will no doubt die A death of a thousand times Any reaves will be burned Turned to dust upon the wind Spread far and wide friends I’m sure they’ll speak I’ve always inspired Words to be spoken I’ve always led them To the darkest waters But be assured Never once did I Force them to drink Of their own fruition They did what they did But like all others They’ll come To blame me Oh’ The hell The tale They’ll tell Some will lie More will exaggerate Many will flat out Make up most Of what they’ve Come to accuse me of But all of that Matters none Because I’ll be dead Deceased Rotting flesh and meat Worm ford A putrid fool Stewing in his own doom My soul will be gone Destination not known But all of my words A living beast of their own Will of course Continue on and on Changing the world As I always intended For better or worse They’re out there They’ll always be out there In the minds Of those who dared At the core of those few Who took them to heart Oh’ The hell The tale They’ll tell To all who knew me Or at least tried I’d like to thank you Those who understood me Blessed Is such shared craziness In a world of rules Many of times we dared We risked it all In the name of the page And the words created What we did when alive Will come to matter not But those words Will become beings Unto themselves They’ll live No matter if And when I die Oh’ The tale They’ll tell… The Tale They’ll Tell Written by Keaton Foster Copyright © 2015. |
