Subject or Theme: A Birthday Gift for YOU! A tangible thing you give yourself assuming money is no option. A trip just for you or a dream house of your own. Perhaps you’ve wanted to visit the space station or go to Bora Bora or scuba dive the Great Barrier Reef. Maybe it is a 1957 Chevy or a hot air balloon ride. Be sure it is a thing…not world peace or a cure for cancer or sending a kid to college (however admirable these things are!) … something specific just for you that you’ve always wanted! This is the time to think selfishly!! (Instead of always worrying about everyone else…the family or the kids or friends.) Just for you! Be creative, let us in on that secret dream thing you’ve always wanted to have or do!

Verdant Dreams

In the days of my parsimonious youth
I held tight to all I had
But time has brought a certain truth
And I feel eternally sad.

So now it’s time to raise my glass
And tell you all my wish
No longer will I let them trespass
Or tramp my dreams and squish.

I’ll stand my ground and fight
Not feeling any compunction
For this my friends is right
It’s time to make it function.

To build a house deep in the woods
By a lake of clearest blue
Surrounded by the grandeur of hardwoods
And the peace of a marvelous view.

I would write and dream
Fill my world with those I love
This is the verdant gift that would gleam
And fit me like a glove.
