In November 2015 I created a villainous character for "What a Character! : Official WDC Contest" [E]. The prompt for the contest read as follows: Prompt: Write a story from a villain's point of view, making a believable case for why he (or she) thinks s/he's actually the hero or good guy/gal of the narrative. Sister Justice was born.
Despite the fact that she is a loathsome character, people wanted more. They loved to hate her and requests for more flooded my inbox. One reader wrote, "My hope is that this character has a life outside of the contest. My only suggestion would be to continue the story of the character if at all possible." Another said, "The thing I liked least was this was only for the story prompt. This character needs to live on, exacting her twisted justice. This character is really larger than life and highly intelligent, which just intensifies her danger capacity. Where could she go and what she could do is just left up to the imagination. Ah! The ideas."
Larger than life-type characters come along but a few times in one's career. They are a gift, a godsend, and since the readers demand more I intend to give them what they want.
