My version of the "Kerrigan meets Jim" scene. |
After watching some StarCraft 2: Heart of the swarm gameplay; there was a scene which caught my eye: when Kerrigan and Jim met for the first time, after she turned back to being an alien. So, this would be my quick version: ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The prison door was forced open by a raging explosion; it tore through it in an instant. Inside the cell, Jim was chained to the wall, and was badly beaten up. Despite his condition, he was still eager to see his rescuer, to leave this forsaken place; for good. But, not all was to his liking: as the fading smog slowly disappeared, it revealed something unpleasant, something he could have never imagined: Kerrigan, as her old self. She just stood there, with a bowed head, as she waited for Jim’s first reaction; she was scared to death, and could not look up. Finally, Jim broke the ice: - Look… look at me! - came the weak shout, from his broken lips. - I said, LOOK AT ME! - he dragged his words out, as he spoke again. Karrigan slowly raised her head up, and finally saw Jim’s hurt face; while his eyes where all swollen up. She had difficulty pushing out her words: - Jim… I’m… I’m sorry… I… - she could not bear Jim’s daunting expression, and cried tears to her eyes. - This can’t be true… this can’t be happening… - Jim slowly chewed on his words as he spoke, while he coughed heavily; as his wounds deepened on his left side. Kerrigan could not spoke, and remained silent. - You threw it away! All of it! Is this what I meant to you!? - he coughed again, but still nothing came in response. - After all I’ve done; all those scarifies… meant nothing. My love meant nothing to you… - he spoke those words, as someone who had been betrayed and deeply violated. Jim coughed again, but this time let out some blood; which dripped down on his shirt. Kerrigan rushed up to him, and tried to comfort Jim, but she was pushed away. She felt the hatred, swirling from Jim; she felt crushed within, like never before. - I thought you were dead… I had no choice… - her voice became soft, and powerless. - All I’ve done was for you. Only for you. - You got to be kidding me… you became human again, free from all of it… and you threw it away, the first time I’ve went missing… after what we’ve been through… - Jim then tried to move closer to Kerrigan; and spoke in a soulless tone: - We’re finished… Kerrigan got the final blow from her beloved one and fell on her knees. She lost all of her will to live; crumbled under the weight of her decisions. They remained silent, as the rumble of the station ended. They did not spoke a word, until the medic’s team came to rescue Jim. Once freed, Kerrigan just sat there silently, as the hours went by... |
