The Party (E) Honorable Mention Stormy's Poetry Newsletter Contest 12-2016 Poetry Newsletter Feature #2105964 by Chris Breva

At a champagne party on New year’s Eve
The guests were are all tipsy as one might expect
The host was tired and wished they would leave
Most of his wishes got no respect.
Some were mere strangers who had come for the fun
With a kiss they greeted him at the door
The horse carried them there on the run
It was their resolution to pass out on the floor.
At the stroke of midnight the new year began
The host had then had his fill
He wanted to be rid of these strangers
He wanted his house to be still.
So on his horse the host then fled
He was off to fetch the sheriff
If they wouldn’t leave then “enough”he said
For every action there is a tariff.
When morning came the jail was full
Most of the prisoners were quite tipsy
That’s just the price that one pays
When one lives like a party gypsy.
