Going from being afraid of the dark to not being afraid of the dark.
When Darkness Falls

When darkness falls,
Night encroaches on light’s domain.
I fight the darkness closing in,
fearing what will become of my tortured soul.

I want so much to stay brave,
with no fear of what’s to come.
I try not to shrink back away from
the blackened shadows on the wall.

Saying a silent prayer for grace,
I gain my strength anew.
My mind becomes refreshed,
while my inner soul begins to heal.

When darkness falls,
I will no longer fear shadows that come.
I stand tall on my own two feet, finally whole,
the way God made me to be.
