Ribbons of blue form the sky above
Swirls of purple play around the water’s edge
Stripes of red paint the clouds that linger
A sun so yellow shines through the mist
Welcome to my rainbow.

The trees sway gently in the breeze
While flowers blossom
As squirrels and birds chatter
In a language few understand
Welcome to my forest.

Children love unconditionally
Men treat women like queens
Strangers abound in times of celebration
Friends reach out to help in times of need
Welcome to my life.

A life full of sadness and tears
Family torn apart by those who don’t know
Difficult times lie ahead
Where we must fight to save our rights
Welcome to my world.
