I wanted to see my little Max's name on the vet's sign, so I wrote the poem below.

Max's Small Request

by Kristi Sayles

I fell in love when I held him in my hand
No bigger than my palm
His little tongue kept licking my fingers
My home would never again be calm

He clawed my doors, chairs, and blinds
Nipped my grandchildren too
He costs me hundreds for vet care
But, what's somebody in love to do?

I taught him to be a good dog
Even to use a litter box to go
He'll play outside for hours
Then come in to let it flow

I taught him to jump through hoops
And to come when I call
I taught him to play dead bug
And play minature basketball

He'll hand me a tissue when I sneeze
Then throw it in the trash
He'll shut open doors for me
And turn in circles in a flash

One day he couldn't do any of those things
He limped instead of walking
"Help me, Mom," his eyes begged in tears
Louder than any talking

I took him to see his favorite doctors
Killian and Paschall
It wasn't long before
He was my rambuctious little rascal

I heard there was a new vet in town
But Max says he doesn't care a lick
When he needs help or a vacation home
He's going to the Camden Animal Clinic

So, would it be too much trouble
To put his name on the sign outside
He would love to be Pet of the Month
He and his mom would just burst with pride
Now you know Max's request
Wants to share the pic under the sign
He'd tell Mom to share it on Facebook and Twitter
If you'd be so kind :)

NOTE: It worked! Camden Animal Clinic featured my Max on the sign for a whole month! :)
