When you go to a camp, you are bound to have a good time. |
Today I leave for summer camp I promised mom and dad I’d write each day I packed my toothbrush and teddy bear And my baseball mitt if I was asked to play The bus was filled with a bunch of kids Who had never been faraway. We finally arrived at Camp Firefly We had a cabin with beds for four Our eyes were as big as saucers Seeing the various trees with such beauty galore A trail sign pointed to Crystal Creek Which gave us memories we’ll remember for ever more. The first day was filled with a nice, fun hike Where there were rabbits and birds to see Our guide picked up a turtle so small Then he pointed out the home of a bumble bee And when we sat down to eat our lunch A butterfly flew by Sid and landed on my knee. The second day our group went on a fishing trip Big Bruce had a tackle box that had our supplies Our poles were there by the side of the Creek Strings and hooks we would all learn how to tie We waited for the fish to be caught that day But I guess all of the fish were rather shy. We had a chance to paddle a canoe Our arms ached but we wanted to do more Then our choices were either archery or crafts We had fun until the rain turned into a downpour Our leaders kept us busy so much That we wanted to stay outdoors. The final night was the going home campfire We were sad because our friendships we couldn’t measure We ate hot dogs, chips and marshmallow s’mores And then sang the song of how our friendship was ours to treasure The end of the song, the fire died down Each one of us felt that Camp Firefly gave us untold pleasure. |
