Poem about riding my bicycle on the Farmington Canal Trail in Farmington Connecticut
my feet push the pedals
That push the gears
That move the wheels
That move my body forward.
Bicycle wheels spin in circles,
Wind whooshing,
Calming deep breath
Smelling Pine and Red Oak.
Legs pushing down,
Feet pushing petals,
Wheels spinning circles
Past a parade of faces,
Murals of life’s stages
We smile and nod
Knowing that we share this path
Once the home of the Massaco and Wappinger
Fishing the river named Farmington.
Legs pumping, feet pushing petals
Moving gears,spinning wheels
In circles
I am part machine
Metal and rubber,
Heart and lung,
Muscle and blood.
In circles
I celebrate this union.
