How tall people feel about questions. |
Whether it is while walking down the street Or on school grounds Or inside my own home Moping around I am reminded everyday When I go inside stores With clothes galore I can never buy something from the waste down For my legs are too long And my shoe size makes me frown When I walk outside Or even jog or run I get reminded how being six foot three is not at all fun Cat-callers and rude people Who never want to learn your name Continues to play The same old silly game: How tall are you ? What sport do you play? It must be basketball Wait, volleyball? No way! How tall is your mother? Oh wow that can't be How tall is your father? Dang, he sure beats me And the cycle goes on and on New faces, same song They want to know your life And would love to feel your strife But never care to learn your name So the next time you see someone different Maybe even a human 'extraordinaire' Watch what you say Take your time and think Be like the Turtle and not the Hare We may be a wonderful sight to see Or to some, just a freak of nature It is important that you understand We are still humans, just of a beautiful stature Don't ask for my picture Don't ask about my height Try learning something different for once About my interesting life Ask me about my day Or what I like to do Don't say the dang obvious like God damn, she grew Don't assume my age Because I can be ten but look 25 If you do not ask me important questions You could be flirting with someone that still plays 'I spy' We are beautiful people With our own different quirks We are beautiful people That have been through the works We don't need to be reminded of our height by you Because we are reminded by the simple things we do Be that different person That remembers we are people, not a walk around circus That we have things to do And our life has a purpose Your questions are what I pray to avoid everyday Because honestly your curiosity just gets in my way A simple "hello" and "good bye" Or a "hi nice to meet you!" Could go a really long way For very tall people |
