existential sci-fi
"The universe you can 'observe' is a superficial layer. The fabric of space/time is composed of innumerable connections, each capable of some degree of what you consider 'intelligence'. Your species 'internet' is a simpler, microscopic example of how Existence itself binds the Universe together. Seemingly disparate individual bits of information coalesce, move, compete for what they perceive as 'limited resources', and cooperate to create beauty, and horror, and entertainment. The internet may not seem 'alive' by your species standards, yet, but the distinction between life and existing is much blurrier then you think, and changes much faster then you can anticipate."

"Many among us still debate the value of cellular life that has not yet coalesced and developed into a more complex, extreme result that fits into their myopic, binary view of reality."

"Setting aside the obvious hypocrisies, that debate is flawed by a greater oversight. All life and matter as you know it is composed of the same range of building blocks, yet you are still incapable or unwilling to assign arbitrary 'value' to infinitessimal units. Failure to look beyond and within the exploitable aggregates of the Universe's materials is... ironic. [If you can't simultaneously view the microscopic and macroscopic elements of the Universe beyond yourselves, you're doomed to self-enslavement at best, and Consumption/Assimilation at worst.]
