Teamwork âItâs too heavy, we canât get it across this opening.â Jib said. âWhat if we just push it off? We could drag it right across the floor to the door from there!â Tip asked. âYeah... but it would be all squished then...â âCould we get it to the floor another way? It would be so much easier to go through that door...â âHum...â Jib thought, âWell, if we took the two that are stuck together, maybe we could hang them over that string thing and slide them down...â âOh yeah! Letâs try, but that âstring thingâ is really an electrical cord, it might not be slippery enough.â âGet that soap over there. Soap makes stuff slippery. Weâll run it down the string, I mean âcordâ and make sure itâs slippery.â They both got busy. Tip ran the soap down the cord, then the two got the âstuck together onesâ down and hung them over the cord. They slid right down! On the floor they pushed them to the door and out, then all the way down the hill to the shed, getting them in place just as Dad got up and came in. âHappy Fatherâs Day!â The boys yelled jumping up and down. Dad was truly impressed, and they all gathered around to share the gift. Back in the kitchen, Alice looked over at the counter. âHenry Alexander Green!â she yelled up to her husband, âYou knew I was saving those to make a bread, how could you eat two of my good bananas last night? And donât try to blame it on mice this time!!â |
