Whatever Happened To Big Nose "Rose"

There was a wanton woman in the days of old

whom all around called "Big Nose Rose,"

known as a dreamer, craving some man,

pretty little Polly came and off they ran.

The man and Polly choose wedding bands

hardly a day went by Old Rose took a stand,

to land her another hot blooded man.

They said she died one day in the dark

big nose and all, she could sing like a lark.

There by the road face down in the murk,

they said an old lover, left her there in the dirt.

Now rumor went around and the rumor went down,

that the old farm boy lover was seen slipping around.

The whole town wondered who the murderer could be,

and pointed their fingers towards the old Hangin' tree.

A story was told, the whole town had their say,

where the culprit and killer of big nose Rose lay.

Years went by and the story took a more sinister turn.

Where was sweet Polly the night the evidence did burn.

For it was known by some the mean streak she did own,

could leave a man dead and a woman no longer to roam.

They say still to this day on a day of dreary and rain,

sweet Polly can be seen laughing and looking insane.

Rain pouring down her face, looked like tears falling down,

tears never shed as they both laid buried in the ground.

Stories are told as people get bold and stories get old,
