Keep Away

verse
I didn’t want to carry this
I tried leaving it behind
It follows like a delusion
Growing in my mind

Chorus
Pride is fear
Stuck in the body
Starts in the stomach
Makes its way to the head

verse
So I stand to stretch my legs
And walk off all the pain
One by one I take the steps
Though every step’s the same

Chorus
Peace is a choice
If you elect it
Sticks if you let it
But can turn into noise

verse
I’ve got miles of red before me
The trappings of my life in tow
Though I’m not needed anywhere,
There’s someplace I’d like to go

Double chorus
Pride is fear
Stuck in the body
Starts in the stomach
Makes its way to the head
I cannot hear
The sound of my footsteps
Over the buzzing
It’s still not dead

Double last-verse
For all the years behind me
I collect a life of debt
I don’t have time to turn around
Or think about regret
I Keep on moving forward
When the road is sharp and rough
Today is still a good day
I’m still here; that’s enough

Amen

AMEN! A man! An imam was there
“Save me” She said.
Protect me with your prayer
Alah, Jesus, Buddha, Send everybody here
Gimme all your answers
I don’t wanna live in fear.

Chorus
And it’s hard to get the animus connected to me
When the spirit isn’t always what it’s cracked up to be.
And between you and me, enlightenment can be lonely.
It’s so hard to be free
Connect a body to me
Seems like humans cult-up easily

Verse
A sin! A sign, a single cell
Don’t spill it on the ground!
He’ll send us all to hell
Idle hands are nervous, they don’t want to touch themselves
This isn’t right, it isn’t normal
They just want to be well

Chorus
And it’s hard to get the animus connected to me
When your pleasure center’s starving for wanton novelty
And between you and me, enlightenment can be lonely.
It’s so hard to be free
Connect a body to me
Seems like humans cult-up easily

Verse
Revere what’s here, or singe and sear!
Don’t use your eyes
Don’t use your ears
Where are all the answers?! Well, What did you grow up near?
Don’t fret for which is best
The mind can’t see what’s clear

Chorus
And it’s hard to get the animus connected to me
When the differences are not always easy to see
And between you and me, enlightenment can be lonely.
It’s so hard to be free
Connect a body to me
Seems like humans cult-up easily

The Grey

Bridge/Music section from bridge used as intro?

Verse
White is the heat from the sun
As it drowns the sleeping one.
Ignorant and safe, then, with a gasp,
Awake
Brave enough to live today

Chorus
There’s nothing like the grey
Kill the dreaming where they lay
And you don’t know what to say
But I won’t hear you anyway

Verse
Blue is the ice in the veins
Crawling like a glacier wanes
To coldly make the calls, touch my heart
Wall to wall
Freezing all the joy and pain

Chorus
All I can see is grey
The sound and fury fade away
And you don’t know what to say
But I won’t hear you anyway.

Verse
Oppressive and numb is the grey
Makes the details fall away
White knuckled I weep, then lie and wait
For sleep
I’ll try to live another day

Chorus
There’s nothing like the grey
Hop on in and waste away
And you don’t know what to say
But I won’t hear you anyway.

Bridge
I always lie awake and watch it die
I hum a dirge for every passing day
So I can lay back down and close my eyes
To trudge headlong back into the grey

Chorus
There’s nothing like the grey
Hop on in and waste away
And you don’t know what to say
But i won’t hear you anyway.

Nebula

Verse
The movement of youth
A salvo in clumsy fits and starts
A heedless surge that only moves away
She didn't know what for
Their worship kept her tethered to the floor
Ignorant yes, but knowing when to stay

Chorus
Indulgently she moves,
Lilting, unaware
I try to look away
But all I do is stare
She floats from step to step
Each one upon my soul
She moves and she collects
Every moment that she stole

Verse
The rage that comes with age
Of stiffened legs and stifled dreams
A slow dawn up on a world devoid of charm
One that she’s never known
The only world she’s in is all her own
A heavy center I revolve around

Bridge into Second Half of verse

The world can’t touch her with its woe
She’s always there so that she’ll never grow
Like an illusion, moving standing still

Chorus
Indulgently she moves,
Lilting, unaware
I try to look away
But all I do is stare
She floats from step to step
Each one upon my soul
She moves and she collects
Every moment that she stole

Fault

Verse
If I’m not perfect
I am what you made me
You don’t clean your messes
There’s no way to blame me

If I destroy this
Its because you allowed me
Expecting me to control it
You hand the keys to a child

You can’t tell me that you suffer
From the choices I made
You know nothing of madness
You are a stranger to pain

-Tempo or time signature change for “chorus”-

My body is an animal
With hell between its ears.
You don’t know hurt, you don’t know spite,
You don’t know pain that domineers
You know not conscience
Absolution
You only know your fears

-Back to original tempo for verse-

If you don’t want to save me
I’ve got nothing to lose
Cast me as the villain
Seems I don’t get to choose

DO YOU WANNA SEE BLOODSHED?
DO YOU WANNA SEE TEARS?

-abrupt tempo change to a music break-

If I can't have peace then no one can
If I can’t have peace then no one can
If I can’t have peace then no one can
We’ll die as loudly as I need
