Cramp Prompt: Write about a character from the point of view of a pet. |
A human being is a mammal And if they really want a pet Another type of mammal Is the pet they should get. I'm not a cuddly kitten I'm not a playful pup I can't do tricks like begging And I certainly can't sit up. I'm just a turtle And all that I can do Is be an amphibian Live on land, or in water too. So she's put me in this pond And she comes by once a day To say 'Hello Chortle' And toss some food my way. Sometimes when she's in the mood She puts me out among the flowers While she sits and reads Or paints, or something, for hours. When she's had enough of that I go back to my pond She's built a little bridge for me There are some spots of which I'm fond. But on the whole I'm lonely There's no one here like me I don't have anyone to talk to No friends or family. Why don't humans think before They go out an capture An innocent animal And take it out of nature? Don't they know some are meant To be wild, not domesticated It's not rocket science, humans It's not complicated. Some of us are meant as pets And some are just not And I'm one of the misfits Reconciling with my lot. |
