Red dress shares a story of unexpected violence against the young girl that wears it

Stunning Red Dress Story

Shop assistant to the girl,
tall and slim, with glasses:
"Red looks amazing on you!"
Girl: "Is it too short?"
"No. Just perfect."

She hesitated
but bought me
the little red dress with a ruffle.

Took me home
hung me
in her dark closet

I thought she had forgotten me.

Then, one day,
I heard her on the phone,
arrange a meeting with friends.
She promised
to wear me--
her stunning red dress.

Next morning
so excited to go out
be walked
in the center of Sofia
to Bolero Caf
My girl's friends
waited for us already.

She sunned me on the patio
So happy
on this perfect day

I listened
Talk and laughter
Observed
people buzzing at other tables
Overheard
through my sleeves
three men at the next table
telling dirty jokes
looking lustily all around.

Time came for my girl
and her friends
to go

One man
stretched his arm and
lifted me up so high
before I dropped back down
everyone could see
my girl's panties.

"Look, guys, this one doesn't wear cover"
They burst in laughter.

My girl and her friends

frozen

for a moment or two
as if surrounded
by savage animals
in a jungle.

My girl
blushed
stepped
towards the bull
slapped him hard
in the face
then left.

After recovering
such shock
the villain
jumped from the table
stalked after her
clear intent
to hit back.

I sensed him
approaching,
an attacking bull in a rodeo,
breathing heavily,
sparks of anger in his eyes.

I got scared
I rustled
"Run!
He will kill you!
Run!"

He was coming
closer
closer
closer

Suddenly
one of the other guys
jumped in front of him:
"Come on, Johnny!
Let that slut go."

Johnny hesitated for a second
the longest second in my life
his fist in the air
ready to bash
grit his teeth
and
let us go

When we went home
my girl hung me again
back in the closet
put me on
no more

Until today

I still wonder...
what made her change her mind?
Did she forget that story?

or

forgive me
for being so red and so short?
