Written for the LightHouse Poetry Contest September 1, 2019 TAKEN FROM MATHEW24:27 “I will liken him to a wise man who built his house on a rock.” Reminds me of how I was raised and how I live my life. 164 words 16 lines The House on the Rock By Lisa Noe Mother and Father built our house on a rock, A home they made of it, block by block. Daddy worked hard in the military, fighting for a free nation, While mommy stayed home, as the children were her obligation. She taught us of Jesus and love of all peoples, Our home was like a church without the steeple. Mommy and Daddy had love for each other, We saw that and learned all were our sister and brother. There was no foolishness in our home of love, Daddy and mommy taught us of God up above. Didn’t always make it to church, Daddy said God was where we were, Learned that lesson, learned it well, He’s in my heart, that’s were he stirs. My parents were wise, they taught us well, They taught us of God so we would not see Hell. Jesus is my savior, thanks to my precious mom and dad. They taught us to be God fearing and caring not bad. |
