Agent Who?
By Lisa Noe
Daddy was a Vietnam Veteran, I am so proud to say.
He served for many years, ‘till he retired one May.
He earned so many medals, but they meant nothing to him,
He only cared for the safety of all his family and friends.
One day I heard him talking to a friend who also served,
They spoke of all the danger and how it took some nerve.
Daddy broke down crying when he spoke of that awful spray
He said he didn’t know it killed but he learned it in later days.
They called it agent orange and it controlled the jungle vines,
But who would know in latter years it would kill your dad and mine.
It took it a few years, but it did the job all the same.
I can only make sure that they never forget their names.
I loved my daddy very much, I was his shadow for many a day.
He loved me too of that I’m sure that is why he died I’ll say.
A memory will forever live inside me you can be sure.
For as long as I breathe he will too our love is oh so pure.
