Slow Burning Fire

Slow burning fire, consistent but low
Burn your flames with a warmth reliable,
Quality dependable fuel burns slow,
The comfort given; undeniable.
Slow burning fire, all through the cold
Dark nights you give out warmth and light to keep
Me secure, even when your flames grow old
Smouldering embers carry me to sleep.
Other fires may burn with an intense
Heat or a brighter flame, in their passion
They vainly guzzle fuel with little sense;
Fireworks substituting compassion.
Comfort from fast flames will as likely burn
For my joy, I'll to my slow burner turn.
