free verse about my profession
Teacher

Children file in
a few at a time
and take their places in the room.
They look to me
to feed them
Numbers, Letters and
Musical Notes,
on a page, a board or
in the air.

And they soak it in,
digest it
while they laugh, they learn,
then long for more.

And I lay out the more
for them to feast upon.
Plates and plates
of Science, Art and
Social Studies
I spread before them,
and I delight to see them
eat it all up.

At the end of the day,
I smile,
then plan
my lessons
for tomorrow.
