Days of future past (195 words = 385-190) |
I work as hard as I can in the mornings but by lunch time I'm ready for the meet-and-greet down at the meat market. Well, that's what we call the string of cafes where old men drink tea and play backgammon all day. The rhythm of traffic emits a low hum in the background while the cacophony of business men trying to not look busy drowns it out. Today I want to scream out "Look at the old men! Slow down, you have time. I found out I have time!" But it sounds too cliche and they wouldn't pick up the allusion to a song written before they were born... nor me... not that that matters. So I joined in, stiff joints and all, hoping nobody noticed or worse decide to slap me on the back. I avoided anyone who seemed a tad too tipsy or happy. I didn't see any of my friends. A couple had been at the party last night. Probably sleeping in. I did speak to an amusing man who had a proposal to pitch. He reminded me of someone from my past... We made a dinner date for tomorrow.
