A short summary of everything you need to know about these riots and why they started. |
America is in complete anarchy after what happened to George Floyd. People are burning down businesses, stealing from stores, beating people up, and creating their own country in Seattle. How did all of this happen you ask, let’s start from the beginning. May 25, 2020, When George Floyd paid for cigarettes with what an employee thought was a counterfeit 20-dollar bill, the employee called the police. Derrick Chauvin and three other officers were then sent to try to stop the reported forgery in progress. 2 of the officers went to George Floyds SUV and arrested him. As they were walking him back to the car, George Floyd fell to the ground and reportedly said he was claustrophobic. The officers thought he was resisting then Derrick Chauvin came out of the vehicle and put his knee on George Floyd’s neck. A witness was recording as Chauvin held his knee on the neck of George Floyd for eight minutes. George Floyd died later that night. This incident is terrible and Derrick Chauvin should go to jail for a long time, nobody who’s a decent person doesn’t think this. This is not the same with Rayshard Brooks, he was shot after stealing a taser off a police officer then shooting it at him. Under Atlanta law a taser is considered a deadly weapon, therefore this shooting had a strong basis under the law and the police officer should not be prosecuted right? Wrong, Garrett Rolfe is being charged with murder. Now it’s time for legal jargon, Derrick Chauvin is being charged with 2nd-degree murder. This is not provable under Minnesota law because under Minnesota law 2nd degree murder is defined as an intentional murder without premeditation. What Chauvin should be charged with is 3rd-degree murder which is defined as an action taken without regard for human life that ultimately results in death. This is what they can prove under the law, continuing with the charges they are pushing may result in Chauvin not going to jail at all. This would be disastrous for the country, if you think we are in a bad place right now imagine what will happen if Chauvin gets off because they overcharged.
