Let's go catch the moon.
Sun still setting, casting
a violet veil across the sky.
Pictures snapped through
open truck window to the west
as we headed east.
Country road, open fields--
a backdrop framing the
rising Snow moon. Full in a few hours.
Yet now, a child's ball thrown high.
Bright, as it flirted with the clouds,
then hidden behind them.
We caught the moon
on our spontaneous jaunt
just to see if we
could race the clouds
and we did. My husband's smile
was even brighter than the moon.
