Poor Jack “It must be around here somewhere.” Jack heard a soft voice say, he couldn’t see anyone. Not wanting to scare someone by popping up behind them, he decided to be noisy and make himself known. “Oh, what a great day!” he said out loud. “Who’s there?” the voice said, obviously trying to sound menacing, but sounding a tad squeaky. “Hello! I didn’t know anyone else was here. Are you hiking too?” Jack asked, still trying to see the person. “Ah, yes. Name’s Jimby. Just resting a minute.” “I could wait for you if you like.” “No no. It’s for a... an important badge! Yes, I need a solo hike to get it!” “Oh, Ok! Well, I’ll go on ahead then. Good luck Jimby!” “Thank you, you too!” “Oh, no need. I already got all the luck I need,” said Jack “Huh?” “I just found the treasure at the end of the rainbow!” “What?” came the voice, followed by the person. It was a small man dressed in green, with a pointed nose, a pointed hat and pointed shoes, and a beard down to his waist. “Ah, I found a treasure... sorry, you... are you a leprechaun?” “Pfffft, of course not! This is just a costume! I just find it comfortable to... hike in...” “Oh, so anyway, I found patch of clover, now I can make my famous clover cake for my new girlfriend!” “Oh, cool. Well, have fun!” “Bye!” off Jack walked. Smiling, as he jingled the gold coins in his pocket, because, you know, it isn’t every day you get to fool a leprechaun! Behind him, Jimby was working a little magic of his own, trying to decide if he’d rather turn Jack into a skunk or a toad, after he took the gold back, of course. Poor Jack. |
