A Clear Moonlit Night

A clear moonlit sky
Shivers overhead,
As most sleep in peace,
Not knowing they’re dead.

Their fate, it was sealed
At the harsh shrill sound.
A police whistle
Echoing around.

The dark streets below
A melee of men,
Merging together,
To do what they can.

Against a breakout
From the Asylum.
They say a hundred
Are now on the run.

The glistening stars
Closed their eyes, went out.
Dawn’s damp, lustre haze,
Highlighted the rout.

The carnage they left
Across the small town,
Left generations
Scarred, silent, shutdown.
