I am Oklahoma through and through.
The homeland courses through
My blood and calls me home.
Home to the rolling hills,
And miles of open sky,
To the grazing cattle and
The coyotes' lonely cry.
I love the feel of the
Breeze on my face and
The power of the biting wind,
Spitting out freezing, blowing snow.
The bare trees speak to
My heart as they quietly
Sleep the winter away.
But I know that spring always
Returns green to them before May.
The stars shine brightly at night,
In the sky overhead,
And a cold sun comes out
In the light of day,
Promising calming warmth,
If we're brave enough to stay.
