I've a sister in Toronto who's a nurse
Cousin Hector buries people, and drives a hearse
Our Graham is a gardener, his rule of thumb is green
But Oscar's rather dodgy, you all know what I mean
Cheery Crystal's selling Avon door-to-door
Ron and Shirley lay new carpets on the floor
My brother Peter is a plumber, though he tap dances at night
And me I'm just a poet, who does bugger all but write.
The first line of this poem is stolen unashamedly from a song called 'My Pink Half of the Drainpipe', by the Bonzo Dog Doo-Dah Band. I came up with the second line, noted it down, lost the note, found the note, decided to expand, and well, here we are.
