The elevator’s gears ground noisily to a halt on the seventh floor of the old building. Sarah waited impatiently as the doors reluctantly opened. There was one other occupant.
A sudden, jolting, caused Sarah to lose her balance. A strong arm preventing her from falling.
“Sorry,” he said, removing his arm.
“I knew this would happen one day, It’s a death trap.” Sarah looked at her companion for the first time.
“We’ll be fine, someone will rescue us. Well, eventually.” His disarming smile helped Sarah’s stress levels to drop.
Three hours later the pair left the elevator hand in hand.
