Kismet

“Have you tried this?” Jeff asked across the table.

Their first date, through “Daters Dates.” She actually couldn’t understand this match-up. He didn’t seem to be her type at all.

“What?” she asked.

“This one,” he turned the menu, “I can’t figure out how to pronounce the name.”

“I’ve never heard of it.” She looked at her own menu reading the blurb, “It sounds good, though. But, I was rather drawn to this roast beef dish.”

“That sounds good!” Jeff said, after reading it. “Let’s both get it.”

A check in his positive list. Susan softened a little more toward him. He wasn’t insistent on being the boss.

Jeff looked over at Susan. He was intensely aware of her. He had never been this drawn to anyone so quickly before, well not in this way. He almost felt like it was fate that he was sitting here right now. Part of him actually wanted to run away! But another part seemed to stick him to his chair, and he was feeling a tad anxious at the same time. He ordered their food.

The meal went well. The dish had an odd flavor but it was wonderful! That is, until Susan started breaking out in hives. Very quickly she got red and started breathing hard. Jeff yelled for someone to call an ambulance and started CPR on her. By the time the ambulance arrived she was unconscious, but thanks to Jeff’s CPR, still breathing.

It turned out she was allergic to the odd flavored ingredient, and didn’t know it. A one in a million who were. Jeff had literally just finished his CPR training the week before. He had saved her life by being there. They never dated again.

However, they remained close friends for the rest of their lives. Kismet.
