"Poppies"

“Poppies”

Soldiers jump from the boats and hit the sand.
They're running for their lives!
Thousands of Poppies blowing in the wind.

For many, it was the first time away from home.
Fresh out of school, serving their country.
Head held high and shoulders back.

Your nerves were on end, with words stuck in your throat.
You pray to God to give you the strength,
As your feet hit the sandy beach!

All you can remember is dodging bullets.
Your heart was pounding in your ears.
And the blood-red poppies!

So many soldiers have fallen in these fields,
Memories of those lost around the world.
Forevermore in our hearts!

"Poppies" are a symbol of remembrance,
Love, hope, and encouragement for all.
For a future that others have sacrificed of themselves!

I would love to thank those who nominated this for an award. It is an honor!

As I write this, I notice the time and the date. It is now 12:42 am on 9/11/2022. We are celebrating the 21st anniversary of the attacks, and the ones we lost that fateful day are still fresh in our hearts. We will have memorials today honoring our fallen. I wrote this for all who have fallen for our country and for those who have fallen for their countries in the name of freedom and the pursuit of happiness. A lot has happened this week 9/11 and Queen Elizabeth's passing, the preparation for her funeral, and the new realm are to take place in the coming days.

May the Lord God lead our countries to a better world. I pray that we all look to Him for guidance in all matters.
