When you listen to music, what are you listening to?
What happens in the silence
between notes in a song
Dedicated to the one you love
On a steamy Havana night?
Playing outdoors
Smelling the rotted fish
And open sewers
That slowly slide by
In the Cuban night
I thought of everything
That made love and relationships
Toxic.
Suddenly the air was too thick
To blow into my saxophone
And I stopped thinking
And added to the silence.
