A Flash Fiction (224 words)
Panting, he stopped. He propped his hands on his thighs and cheered out of breath, "I did it!"
I cheered inwardly and hugged him as I could hardly believe it.
He gasped and began to tell me, "I went to Ms. Terny's. I went in the backyard like this, her fence is low. Suddenly a brown mutt came at me. I shooed him away, but that's when I spotted more dogs. All the dogs were barking. I quickly grabbed Emir's tulip and ran away."
I left the dog thing uncommented and got right to the point: "Great job! But what did you need a tulip for?"
He got down on one knee in front of me and showed me a ring. "Will you marry me?"
Speechless, I stood there. Tears of joy rolled from my eyes. i couldn't believe it. He had chosen me, not all his fans or the hot girls who adored him day and night.
I thought of all the effort I had put into our love, all the hopeless years I had bridged, all the fake kisses I had imagined. And of our relationship, which had grown more and more beautiful over the past five years, as if it were headed for this moment like a train heading for a mountain.
I was only one thing: hopelessly happy in love.
