Emergency personnel scrambled Saturday to find temporary lodging for those lucky enough to survive a blaze that has claimed at least 80 lives. Deadly flames that rushed through the Hawaiian island of Maui with astounding speed and strength reduced hundreds of homes to ash.

The incredible scale of the destruction was made more apparent on Saturday, although communication was still challenging due to 30 cell towers that were still not working. On the western half of the island, power outages were predicted to last for a number of weeks. While search efforts are ongoing, authorities have issued a warning that the death toll could increase.
